Catrine Johansson Lantto is one of an increasing number of people choosing to move to Boden. In her case, it was first a horse saddle that drew her here. Then came a stable for her horse, a house and a job, and the whole life puzzle fell into place. “Dare to try” is her advice.
“Here in Boden I have a simpler life. Five minutes to ICA, the bus to work basically stops outside my garage and I can cycle straight to work in 15 minutes. So now I really have local life with three minutes to the stables, seven minutes to work by car and close to everything else I need”, says Catrine.
She is Boden municipality’s new employee as a communicator at the labor market and education administration. She left behind a position at LKAB and a farm a few miles outside Gällivare. With the move to the Bodsvedjan area in Boden, she also left behind many hours of commuting every week and long late nights for the care of the farm and animals.
More time for the passion in life
The choice of Boden as a place to live actually started with her thinking about moving closer to her mother who lives in Luleå and at the same time getting better conditions for her great passion in life – horses and dogs.
“At that time, the idea was still to work at LKAB and just change station to Luleå. But I went to Boden to buy a jumping saddle and when I passed the whole horse village area on the way there, I was sold.”
It also turned out that the seller of the saddle could offer stabling conveniently close to the Boden riding facility where she now rides every week. And then a house in Bodsvedjan came up for sale that had what she was looking for.
Easy to get in
Life with a horse and three dogs has also been a door opener for new contacts and quickly getting to know people who share the same interests. Catrine describes it as easy to enter new contexts and be welcomed here.
Some time after moving to Boden, a job came up at Boden municipality, an opportunity she describes as the last perfect piece of the puzzle.
“I have experienced several times over the years that pieces suddenly just fall into place. My advice is to dare to try when opportunities come. I really enjoy it and Bodsvedjan is a super nice area.”
