Daniella Niemi Zegers grew up in Kiruna but moved to Uppsala where she met her partner – who came from Boden. When family life started to take shape, the choice to move north was obvious. Daniella is now one of a growing number of people attracted to jobs in the municipal organization, which is growing in step with society.
The municipality of Boden is growing, with a strong labor market and high quality of life. Today, it attracts talent from all over Sweden and the world. Not only to the green industry, but also to all the businesses that are growing with the social transition. Today, the market is crying out for staff in everything from schools, healthcare, care, service professions, trade, hotels, restaurants, the hospitality industry, transportation, construction…
Daniella Niemi Zegers is one of a growing number of expatriates from Norrbotten who have chosen to look towards home again. Her partner Andreas Tränstad was born and raised in Boden municipality, and when they started a family, Boden felt like moving back home, even though Daniella’s childhood town of Kiruna is a further 30 miles north. In Sävast there was the house that made them feel that this is where we’re going to stay, now we’ll never move again.
“But now we’ve seen more nice places here in Boden, so you never know. But we’re staying in Boden,” says Daniella.
A future in Boden for career and family
Daniella is a newly hired personnel consultant at Boden municipality, a role that is particularly needed now that the municipal administration is also facing major challenges with the supply of skills.

“I have worked as a manager responsible for personnel, sales and profitability in the private sector before, but I felt that I was most passionate about human resources and creating good working environments. In my new role here in Boden, I am one of several human resources consultants who provide support to managers in human resources issues. One of the advantages I see in working with personnel issues in the municipality is to be able to focus on the core mission, while being efficient.”
Jobs and quality of life go hand in hand
Alongside a wide range of job and career opportunities, Boden also offers good living environments outside work.
For Daniella, the biggest advantage of Boden is the ease of everyday life. Daniella and Andreas’ two-year-old son is enrolled at Lunda preschool, just a short walk from home. Andreas works as an automation engineer at ABB in Luleå, about a 20-minute commute away. Within ten minutes, Daniella has everything she needs:
- Preschool
- Grocery store
- Gym
- Nature experiences
- Employment
“”In a big city, it took more planning to get the social life right. Now I’m a mother of small children so a lot revolves around that now, but it’s very nice that whatever you want to do here is within cycling distance, says Daniella.
