Boden is consolidating its position as a leading municipality for business climate in Norrbotten, with continued strong service and focus on meeting skills challenges.
For the fourth year in a row, Boden is ranked highest in the county and 51st in Sweden, according to the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s latest survey.
Although this represents a drop of two places from the previous year, the overall rating remains unchanged with a customer satisfaction index of 4.11 out of 5.
A particularly impressive part of Boden’s performance is its long-term improvement.
Since 2014, Boden has made the second biggest improvement in the whole country, moving from 274th to 51st place, an average of 22 places per year.
Only Kungsör has made a bigger climb, from 251st to 16th.
– Of course, it is very gratifying that Boden once again receives a high rating from our local business community.
This is the result of long-term and strategic work together with the business community.
I am also very pleased that most municipalities in Norrbotten are climbing the rankings.
By working together to create an even better business climate in the county, more companies will be able to grow and more people will want to establish themselves here,” says Claes Nordmark, municipal councilor in Boden municipality.
In the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s survey, Boden receives particularly high marks in the categories of service and treatment, as well as procurement, where the municipality is ranked among the top 10 in Sweden.
These areas are key factors for entrepreneurs when assessing the business climate in their municipalities, but one challenge that emerged in the survey is access to relevant skills.
Here Boden has dropped 81 places, something that the municipality is now actively working to improve.
– The supply of skills is a major challenge for the whole region in several sectors, and we are actively working to address this by strengthening the attractiveness of Boden as a place to live and improving the matching between job seekers and employers.
In addition, we will procure a function that facilitates matching individuals in our systems with suitable employers, to ensure a long-term and sustainable supply of skills,” says Mats Berg, Head of Business and Industry in the municipality of Boden.
Every year, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise conducts a comprehensive survey in which over 30,000 companies are asked to assess what it is like to run a business in their respective municipalities.
The results of the survey are combined with five statistical factors to create a ranking that compares the business climate in Sweden’s 290 municipalities.
